Meg Patchett, PhD, served as Provost, Dean of Academic and Student Services and Acting President for Cabarrus College of Health Sciences in Concord, NC, between 2008 and 2022. During her tenure she oversaw all academic programs, the college library, the Office of Institutional Research and Effectiveness, the Office of Digital and Instructional Innovation, Admissions, Student Success, Community Outreach and the Office of Administrative and Financial Services.

To say Meg knows accreditation is a huge understatement. She led Cabarrus College through multiple regional accreditation reviews, including new program initiation, degree level change, 10-year reaffirmation, fifth year interim reporting and two Quality Enhancement Plans, with successful on-site and virtual visits from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC). She also served on SACSCOC off-site review and on-site visiting teams. Additionally, Meg led her academic team through a variety of successful programmatic accreditation self-studies and visits with accreditors such as ACEN, ACOTE, ARC-STSA, ASHP, CCNE, CoARC and MAERB.

As Cabarrus College Provost, Meg ensured academic quality and student success across all degree programs, as evidenced by Cabarrus College students’ greater than 90% certification and licensure pass rate. Meg’s other accomplishments included launching eight new online, hybrid and seated graduate, undergraduate and post-baccalaureate certificate programs; developing six additional bachelor’s and master’s programs now awaiting approval or nearing completion; joining the State Authorization Reciprocity Agreement; and implementing robust policy development, review and revision protocols. She also served as Dean for Academic and Student Services, growing enrollment by 24%; led the development of the college’s 2018-2022 strategic plan; served as Acting President during a presidential transition; and conceptualized, developed and gained approval for Cabarrus Health Sciences Institute, an “early college” developed in partnership with Cabarrus County Schools and Atrium Health.

Meg began her educational career at Butler University in Indianapolis, IN, earning a Bachelor of Arts in sociology and psychology. She continued her studies at the University of Akron in Ohio, earning a master's degree in Industrial and Organizational Psychology and a doctorate in Industrial Gerontology. Before joining Cabarrus College, Meg taught as a psychology instructor at Rowan-Cabarrus Community College, where she also served as Social Sciences Program Head and Dean of Arts and Sciences. She received the 2006 Outstanding Employee Award, was a two-time winner of the Excellence in Teaching Award and was a state nominee for the NC Community College Excellence in Teaching Award.

In addition to her work at Cabarrus College, Meg has presented regionally and nationally, and recently chaired the Centralina Workforce Development Board’s Allied Health Regional Skills Partnership and the Northwest Cabarrus High School Health Academy Advisory Board. Passionate about cultural inclusion and quality education, Meg has held numerous leadership and service roles with organizations such as Charlotte’s Women’s Inter-cultural Exchange Advisory Council, Cabarrus County Schools’ Gifted Education Advisory Board, NC Network for Excellence in Teaching, NC New Schools Project, Cabarrus County Schools Parent Council and the American Association of University Women.

Originally from Owensboro, KY, Meg and her husband Jeff are proud parents of three adult children and grandparents of two adorable granddaughters. When not doting on their grandchildren or playing with their mischievous cat, Meg and Jeff enjoy visiting family, spending time in the mountains and traveling abroad.
